These 2 morning Art Groups are really fun and a very enjoyable way to start or develop your Art further, and also very successful, as you receive proper training from an Artist who has been involved in Art Education and has, and still is, selling her art - for many years.
Carol's teaching has been proved to be successful by the large number of people who have been taught by her in the Fine Art Department of the then (Natal Technikon), or since 2001, have attended her home Carolart Studio classes. Many ex-students of hers are now practising Artists in their own right.
Carol caters for the needs of COMPLETE BEGINNERS, starting everyone with an introductory Drawing Course which helps anyone and everyone, progress quickly. After that you move on to painting in oils or acrylics. Carol has a really fool-proof method to helping you produce a great first painting that always ensures success...
TIMES:
Art classes are held (only) on a Tuesday and a Thursday morning from 9 - 1. Both classes of 4 hours , are longer than most offered by other Art teachers, but they enable people to get really settled and relaxed, so that plenty can get done in each class.
FEES / COST
The cheapest option is the TERM FEE PAYMENT, which is a special discounted rate, payable in advance, for one class per week in a term- (works out at only R100 per class for a 4 hour class, is also great value). However, if you are unable to come on a TERM basis. Individual classes are R120 - cash only.
MISSED CLASSES Any missed classes can be caught up by attending on the alternative day, Tuesday or Thursday
Classes are held in an attractive open studio environment with lively music playing, close to the lovely garden, and tea breaks are held on a big veranda overlooking the sea. There is lots of laughter and the people who form part of these two Art groups are a wonderful mix of ages, cultures and languages. Everyone dresses very informally and quickly relax with Carol’s humour and nonsense and many lasting friendships are regularly made here.
IT’S NEVER TO LATE IN LIFE TO START ART and, unlike many other activities, you can do it for the rest of your life regardless of health or mobility. Since this Art studio was started in 2001, many students have moved on independently and are earning an income as Fine Artists in their own right.

CAROL HAYWARD FELL - THE ARTIST
In addition to painting and Art teaching, Carol is also an established Ceramic Artist with numerous examples of her work in many SA Public Art Galleries, Museums and in hundreds of private Art collections throughout South Africa and abroad.
She is currently known for he expressive Sculptures of Horses which have been widely publicised and seen in 2012 on TV on: Top Billing, Kwela and also in numerous magazines both locally and in the UK. Her sculptures of horses are exhibited and sold regularly in local Durban Art galleries, as well as Joburg, Cape Town, Clarens and other galleries in the Western Cape.
IS IT A COURSE? WILL I GET A DIPLOMA? NO, tuition is ongoing – i.e. attending an art group like this is not a specific course with a start or end date – in Art classes, everyone here moves at their own pace.
Fancy tongue- in-cheek Diploma and Degree Certificates are awarded at the end of each year. Someone may get lucky one day, in a (very) foreign country passing these off as a real degree – who knows?

NO EVENING OR WEEKEND CLASSES – NO CHILDREN’s CLASSES
Unfortunately, despite numerous requests, (and in order to maintain Carol's mental health!) there are no classes in the evenings or weekends AND there are NO classes for children!
